I Feel Like Barra Tonight!

There's been a lot of sad news over the last few weeks - the bushfires in Victoria, the floods in Queensland... but one of our listeners sent us these photos to show that not everything resulting from the floods was bad news. Check out the barramundi beauties that washed over the spillway at Lake Moondarra in Mt Isa...

Bruce Lee - The Lost Footage

Now first let us just say that we're pretty big skeptics when it comes to this sort of stuff... especially when it's an ad... and also with what can be done these days with digital whoozawhatsits and thingamejigs... and Bruce Lee, well he was good, but was he this good?  Judge for yourself.  Either way, it's a pretty cool video... makes us want to break out the ping pong paddles.

Jacko makes a comeback

So the news is out... Michael Jackson is making a comeback with ten shows at London's O2 Arena in July. Jacko also hinted that this could be the end of his music career forever, describing the shows as his "final curtain call". He actually said:"When I say 'This Is It' I really mean this is it. I will be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is the final... the final curtain call, okay - and I will see you in July."

Sad, but true. Speaking of sad, we know white guys can't dance because we have no rhythm... and now we're Dads it's worse because we cop the groans from our kids when we try to bust a move on the parquetry. Jacko has to be one of the best movers'n'groovers of all time... but is this a 'white man overbite' we detect from Jacko at his press conference? You be the judge...

Good on ya' Jacko - it proves you're a real Dad with real Dad dance moves. But how things change - check out this crusty video from 1977 with Jacko busting his chops in a fantastic "Buck Rogers"-style silver spacesuit. No 'white man overbite', no 'feeding the chooks' or 'garden sprinklers'...

Life is far too short not to dance!

A friend of mine sent me this video today and it’s perfect for a Friday. Liverpool Street Station (in London) turned into a giant dance floor during the filming of a mobile phone advertisement. The ad took 8 weeks to plan and prep and 10,000 people auditioned (only 400 of which were chosen). They hid 10 cameras in the station, and then during peak hour, when the terminal was full of unsuspecting commuters, the crowd began dancing to a soundtrack of classic hits! Check it out, seeing really is believing. Dano

Rhys Darby Australian tour dates

The very funny Rhys Darby was on todays show. Rhys is probably best known for playing band manager Murray Hewitt in 'Flight of the Conchords'. He also starred in Jim Carrey's film 'Yes Man' and in April he will be seen in 'The Boat That Rocked' a new film by Richard Curtis (4 Weddings and A Funeral, Notting Hill, Love Actually). He was great fun!

Jono's Mission for Homeless Australians

This year, Mission Australia celebrates its 150th year working with disadvantaged Australians and Jono's on a mission to help raise some much needed funds. Mission Australia is a non-denominational Christian community services organisation, working tirelessly every day to try and eliminate homelessness; assist families and children to develop a solid foundation for the future; support disadvantaged young people;  and help unemployed people find permanent work.  Just last year they helped more than 330,000 Australians.

Mission Australia wants everyday Aussies to experience what it’s like to be voiceless, by not speaking for an hour (or more!) on Friday 15th May 2009; and to seek sponsorship for your silence. The intitiative is called HUSH and that's what Jono's signed up for - can you believe it?! An hour of silence... Jono! We don't think he can do it, but either way it's a cracking idea and Jono needs your support.  Follow this link www.everydayhero.com.au/jonathan_coleman to find out more and how you can become a sponsor of the great man.  Cheers, Dano.

Help name NASA's space station...

On the show today we were talking about how NASA wants help naming its 'new room' on one of their space stations. We think 'The Penthouse' sounds like a pretty good name (imagine the views from up their). So go to NASA and enter your name suggestion in the box (besides why should we have all the fun)!

Ricky Gervais's hilarious "Sesame Street" Appearance

Ricky Gervais was on the set of Sesame Street for an interview with Elmo. The whole interview will not come out until later this year, but we got out hands on a small snippet. In the video below, Gervais and Elmo talk pajamas, charity, where the producer lost control of the interview, and what not to talk about on "Sesame Street." According to Gervais those topics include, "Drugs, child abuse, and the Holocaust." Very funny stuff!

Extra buoyancy VS Jono & Dano

Therese Alshammar of Sweden was stripped of her world record on Tuesday when it was discovered she wore two swimsuits during a race at the Australian national championships. The use of multiple swimsuits was banned due to concerns about extra buoyancy!? So we decided to put this ‘extra buoyancy’ theory to the test. Check out these photos of Jono in a woman’s swimsuit (all in the name of science of course). After we put Jono through a series of buoyancy tests, the result was that wearing two ladies swimsuits definitely increases your buoyancy. We really tackle the big issues on our show...

Here is Jono in swimsuit number 1:

Here is Jono trialling the buoyancy of just one swimsuit:

A very rare Bob Dylan performance...

Bob Dylan gave a rare performance of his song Billy during a weekend club date in Stockholm.  How rare was it?  Dylan hadn’t played it since the original recording on the Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid soundtrack in 1973.  It’s only the audio, but you can hear the version here:

Buoyancy Test - The Video!

Kiddies, avert your eyes!  This is not for the faint-hearted... As you would know, Swedish swimmer Therese Alshammar was stripped of her world record in the 50 metres butterfly earlier this month for wearing two swimsuits, with many claiming it gave her extra and unfair buoyancy. We put the theory to the test at Jono & Dano's Olympic Aqua-Centre and there were some surprising results.  You've seen the photos in an earlier post, but in the words of BTO - you ain't seen nothing yet! Check this out, but remember - you have been warned...

Jono & Dano's 'grudge match' against Lorraine Bayly

Today on the show you would have heard us get flogged in a game of tennis by 72 year old Lorraine Bayly (The Sullivans, Carson's Law etc). The tennis challenge came about when Lorraine revealed to us that she is competing in the 2009 World Masters Games in Sydney. We thought that if it was the two of us vs her, surely we would win... WRONG. We got thrashed.

Also, to ensure that the game was all 'above board' we roped in the help of Michael Caton to be the match referee. Getting Michael involved was the best decision we've made in a while, as we only won 1 out of the 7 games and this was when Michael gave us a hand on the court! His tennis skills were so good we think he should star in a new show 'Pat to the Rafters'.

Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure...

Before the match:

Michael Caton and Lorraine Bayly warm up before the big match:

Dano looks the part- it's a shame this didn't translate onto the court!:

Caton joins in to save the day! Dano is ready, but what is Jono thinking about?

Lorraine wins 6 to 1 and here she is after the game with Jono, Dano, Michael and HER trophy:

If you missed any of this week's show, here are some highlights... Bert Newton gave his thoughts on Underbelly (of course his son Matthew plays Terry Clarke!); we went to the phones to find out facts on 'The Land of the Long White Cloud'; and then there was our tennis grudge match with 72 year old Lorraine Bayly! (Never trust a pensioner!)
